Classic Car Connections previous events
Classic Car Connections started in June 2017 with our first Classic Car and Pizza night at Westerham Brewery. Since then we've held regular Classic Car and Curry nights and two Classic Car tours finishing at local stately homes.
We always have such a good mix of cars from Minis to Mustangs, Bubble Cars to Bentleys and even some classic bikes and scooters.

Ashdown Autumn Adventure
The intrepid adventurers started the day with a coffee stop at The Red Barn in Blindley Heath before they set off for the heady heights of Ashdown Forest. The mix of cars was rather diverse including Hugh Gregory and his wife in Triumph GT6, Dennis Belcher and his wife in their Triumph TR3, Gerry Moore and his wife in their Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG, Reginald and Heather Washington in their Cadillac Eldorado and Chris Wiseman is his Ferrari 308.
For the Treasure Hunt, all the adventurers had to do was take some photos of road signs, shop signs, car park signs and make the words into a story. The Ashdown Forest provided plenty of inspiration for a stories that even AA Milne would have been proud of.
The Foresters Arms provided the final pitstop for a rather busy lunch and selection final story gathering. Picking a winner from the great selection of stories was a hard task.

And the winners were.... Heather and Reg Washington with their story about Tiddles the cat!
All you have to do is now find the photos (shown below) that they have cleverly weaved into their story.
One sunny Sunday morning we decided to go for a drive to the Ashdown Forest, taking our cat Tiddles with us. We stopped for an ice cream on the was, but whilst enjoying our lolly our cat Tiddles jumped out of the car – and was lost! So we put a notice on the car park gate post, took a photo of where we were and then drove off in pursuit of Tiddles – he is a fast runner and would have travelled miles!
We thought we had found him as there was a sign that strange animals had been seen in the area – it might be Tiddles! But no.
Then we came across another sign – it might be Tiddles – but no too big for him!
Here he is pretending to be a sheep – but no again too big.
Then we thought that he might be taking a holiday- at 'Tiddles Cottage'. No not there.
Another sign – has he been spotted here? No Tiddles not seen here.
Then we popped in to see friends at 'The Mill' – no not there.
On we drove until we spotted a sign for 4Cs – could this mean 4 cats have been found? No false alarm! Asked the girl guides– had they seen Tiddles? They had seen a cat near the rubbish bins – but no not there!
At last we thought we had spotted him – but closer inspection it was only a baby deer.
He is a very sociable cat – so we called in at the Social Club – but no Tiddles there.
Was it all a dream? But no – wait a minute is that him in the distance? No not Tiddles but a black bull!
Just as we were about to abandon our search we discovered that Tiddles had been in an accident and was about to go off in an ambulance to hospital. The medics gave him a thorough check over and declared that his injuries were not serious and that we could take him home.

And a close second from Dennis Belcher's with his short story about Peter.
"Christ what a load of Bollards "
Said Peter
Who was only 10 and lived in Ashdown forest
And was Attending Mr Whippys'
Funeral.
Mr Whippy had always thought of Peter as the
Black sheep of the family. As he hadn't carried on his father's
American dream of selling ice cream
And alas after years at Prep school
His biggest Triumph
Was selling Logs and coal
Peter thought there was no Way out

Classic car meet and run from Westerham Brewery to Penshurst Place Fete
9.00am - Westerham Brewery with bacon rolls and refreshments 10.30am - Classic car tour of Kent 11.30am - Car display within the parkland of Penshurst Place at the Penshurst Fete The great thing to see at this meeting was the amount of Dads that came along to enjoy the day! The tour took us climbing up to Ide Hill looking down on Bough Beech reservoir, to Bough Beech, Four Elms, though Edenbridge High Street and along Chiddingstone Causeway finally arriving at Penshurst Place. Everyone arrived at Penshurst with only one car letting off steam this time! The hot Jag was fixed quickly with the aid of a jubilee clip. There was plenty to do at Penshurst Fete including 30 stalls, laser clay shooting, bike rides, sports events, arena displays, music, beer tent, and refreshments. I even purchased a new hat! Winners of our photo competition were Francie Payne with her photo taken from their VW camper roof and another photo from when they had a little breakdown (spot the camper in the mirror)! The photo reflected the driving element really well. Runner up photo taken by Jo Gallagher - entitled Minis and Mutts.

First Classic Car Connections Meeting - June 2017
An excellent first meeting with an eclectic mix of over 30 cars, from Minis, Mazdas, MGs, Maserati through to Mercuries with a Ford Fury, F1 Pickup, E-type and a brace of GT6s to add to the nice collection.
We are really grateful to the owners for bringing down their cars and enjoying a natter with like minded enthusiasts. The evening guests had an added bonus with attendees of sampling a small taster of Squerryes wine followed by street food with a special menu from Pizza Federicci and Craft Beer from the bar at Westerham Brewery. Thank you to Henry Warde, owner of Squerryes, in conjunction with Westerham Brewery, who kindly allowed us to have a classic car and networking meeting at Squerryes Tasting Rooms in Westerham. We are grateful to our sponsors Kall Kwik Sevenoaks for printing our flyers. |
